Your Content Isn’t Valuable (Enough)

People do not read or subscribe to any blog that they don’t feel is valuable to them.

One of the most common problems that I see with real estate blogs is that they don’t provide the target audience with enough value. By value I mean entertainment and/or desireable information that can teach or benefit the reader in a significant way.

The first step in creating a content strategy that will empower you to generate valuable and lucrative real estate content is to deconstruct your target reader.

The best way to do this is to create an extremely specific profile of your reader. Make sure the profile includes:

  • Who they are
  • What they want
  • What they need
  • What keeps them up at night
  • What motivates them
  • Why they need you

Be as specific and detailed as you possibly can when creating your profile. Then refer to your profile when brainstorming topics and titles for your real estate blog. Always try to provide as many actionable solutions to problems and resources to help your readers in every post.

The more value you inject into every post of your real estate blog, the more loyal subscribers you will gain.

Once you have invested the time or money to produce powerful real estate content you have to distribute it through the proper channels. Otherwise, it will just sit around collecting dust instead of collecting leads. Your content marketing strategy is just as important, if not more so, than the content itself.

You Make It All About You

If you have been following me for a while, you know that one of my biggest rules is that all of the content that you produce and post must be at least 80% about the reader. I am very serious about this rule.

I understand as a real estate agent you are using your blog to generate leads and sales.

I do the exact same thing for my business. In fact, the whole reason I don’t need to spend money on marketing is because my blog generates my business for me on auto-pilot.

When you are using your blog to generate business, it can feel natural and easy to make your blog about you.

That’s a huge and expensive mistake as a real estate agent!

I hate to break this to you, but the majority of early readers on your blog don’t give a flying fuck who you are. When you make your blog all about you, the only thing you accomplish is driving people away.

You’re Being Lazy About Marketing

Another thing you hear me talk about all the time is that you need to actively market your content.

Doing this is a lot of work. I know because I live it every day.

However, marketing my blog, podcast, Youtube channel, and social media communities has paid much higher returns than every other traditional lead generation technique combined.

Although posting your real estate blog articles certainly takes time and effort, it will seriously grow your subscribers and leads. Honestly, if you aren’t going to bother marketing your content, there is no point in producing it at all.
