Storyscape Brand Design for a Coaching Membership That Sold Out in 24 Hours
Client Background
Bree is a coach who, in 2024, was preparing to launch a new paid community membership focused on creative collaborations, bundles, and summits.
I had been following Bree for months and was consistently impressed by how approachable and ethical she made collaboration feel especially refreshing for someone like me who had been burned by more than a few “collaborations” that quickly revealed themselves to be one-sided. Live and learn, right?
At the same time, I was deep in a personal creative challenge: designing 100 digital products in 100 days, documenting the entire process, and posting a new video every single day. I was sharing this work inside a private paid coaching community that Bree and I both belonged to.
She was incredibly supportive, leaving thoughtful comments, hyping my designs, and (most importantly) clearly understanding the strategic power of visual storytelling as a teaching and selling tool.
There was just one problem:
She loved the idea of immersive brand storytelling but didn’t have the bandwidth, technical skill, or creative energy to execute it herself.
And the goal wasn’t “more subscribers.”
The goal was instant buy-in, emotional resonance, and a launch that felt inevitable.
The Challenge
Bree knew she wanted her membership to feel like “STEM meets Alchemy” but not in a cold or academic way.
The aesthetic needed to be:
Glamorous
Luxurious
Decadent
Rich
Fun
And beyond that, it needed to teach visually.
Designing a brand that anchors curriculum inside a narrative rather than slapping colors and fonts onto a portal requires layered creative skills that took me over a decade to refine:
Brand psychology
Visual hierarchy
Archetypal storytelling
Conversion-driven design
And the ability to translate abstract concepts into imagery that clicks instantly! These are NOT the kind of skills you get with a VA or generic graphic designer.
Bree didn’t need a logo or a few random branding assets.
She needed a world her students would lose themselves in.
The Solution
I’ll be honest, I was intimidated by the brief. Not because it was unclear, but because I wanted to do it justice.
So, I started how I always do.
With a long walk outside with good music & no pressure.
It’s in that dead space that my best ideas surface. I don’t “brainstorm” I see. Fully formed visual fragments that define the trajectory of the entire project.
Those visions become:
Bullet points
Which become Midjourney prompts
Which become base imagery
Which I then weave into cohesive storyscapes
I sent Bree an initial collection of visual concepts to test the direction. Once she fell in love with those, I built a full brand board including:
Color palettes
Fonts
Visual motifs
Characters
Archetypes
And the narrative framework tying it all together
Each archetypal character was named and given a backstory so the visuals weren’t just beautiful they were memorable.
Once the brand board was approved, I created everything she needed to launch her paid membership community without involving a large team, endless revisions, or months of back-and-forth.
(You can watch the full creative process from mood board to final assets in this video series, where I also showcase six additional storyscape brands created for courses, communities, events, and memberships. https://youtu.be/fKqihUfgSp4?si=NapD_AKSsw_qu09W)
The Results
Bree fell madly in love with the designs which is always my first benchmark of success because if my client doesn't feel empowered by the work they won't feel safe selling it.
Because when the creator feels embodied and proud of what they’re selling, conversion becomes easier.
The membership sold out in 24 hours.
The feedback from students focused heavily on the aesthetic, vibe, and how immersive the experience felt the moment they entered the space.
Bree was incredibly generous in publicly praising my work and went on to expand the community and sell it for profit in early summer 2025 when she decided to pivot her career.
Why This Project Matters
This project stayed with me not just professionally, but personally.
It reminded me that:
Ethical, mutually beneficial creative collaborations do exist
Visual storytelling isn’t optional anymore it’s a key competitive advantage
When most coaches are struggling to sell courses or memberships, strategic design can be the difference between silence and sold-out
From a business standpoint, this approach:
Eliminated the need for a large launch team
Reduced content creation fatigue
Accelerated trust and emotional buy-in
And created instant clarity for buyers
That’s the power of design that does the heavy lifting for you.
Client Feedback
Bree is a wordsmith in her own right, and throughout the project she gave me some of my favorite compliments ever.
One word that still makes me laugh?
“Frothing.”
She also shared inside our coaching community that she loved waking up to the “image drops” I’d send in her DMs during the early brainstorming phase. She posted those images in multiple groups, and I genuinely believe they helped pre-sell the program before the doors even opened.
